Description: The expected number of units sold absent promotions.

Formula:

  • Option A (Direct Source Available): SUM(base_units)

  • Option B (Not Available): Rolling Average of Non-Promo Unit Sales (e.g., last 4–8 weeks)

SQL Calculation (Option A):

SUM(base_units) AS base_units

SQL Calculation (Option B):

AVG(units_sold) OVER (PARTITION BY product_id, retailer_id
                      ORDER BY week ROWS BETWEEN 4 PRECEDING AND CURRENT ROW)
   AS base_units_rolling_avg
