# Connect ChatGPT (web)

Connect ChatGPT on the web to your Daasity data and ask questions from inside ChatGPT, answered from your own governed metrics. The setup runs entirely through ChatGPT's settings: enable Developer Mode, add the Daasity connector, approve it in Daasity, then refresh so ChatGPT picks up the connection.

## Steps to connect the MCP your ChatGPT web

### Step 1 — Enable Developer Mode

Open ChatGPT Settings. Select Security and login, then turn on Developer mode. This setting is required before ChatGPT will let you add and manage a custom MCP connection.

### Step 2 — Add your Daasity MCP from Plugins

Return to Settings and select Plugins. In Developer Mode, use the small add (+) control to reach the plugin flow - the control is easy to miss. Paste in your MCP server URL (in Daasity: AI Analyst → Connect Your AI → choose ChatGPT → Copy), give the connection a name you'll recognize, and select Connect.

### Step 3 — Start the ChatGPT sign-in handoff

When ChatGPT displays the connection prompt, select the Daasity sign-in option. This hands the connection to Daasity for OAuth authorization.

### Step 4 — Approve the Daasity OAuth connection

On the Daasity MCP authorization screen, verify that you are signed in as the correct user and that the intended workspace is selected. Confirm the access is “Read-only data queries via curated Semantic Views” and that the granted tools are find\_views and query. Keep or edit the connection nickname, then select “Approve and connect.”

### Step 5 — Confirm developer-mode registration

After approval, reopen your Daasity connection in Plugins. The information panel should show Developer mode and OAuth support. It may still say "No app actions available yet" - that's normal at this stage, since actions don't appear until you refresh.

### Step 6 — Enable the connection through Manage

This is the step most people miss. In Settings → Plugins, open your Daasity connection, select the three-dot menu (•••), and choose Manage. Under Connection, enable the connection. Keep the permission setting at "Allow low-risk actions (DEFAULT)" unless your organization requires another policy.

### Step 7 — Refresh the plugin metadata

Select Refresh on the Manage screen. Before this refresh, the page may say “No app actions available yet” even though the connection itself is present. Refresh forces ChatGPT to discover the MCP actions.

### Step 8 — Confirm that actions were discovered

The Actions section should now display find\_views and the related query capability. The appearance of find\_views is the practical confirmation that ChatGPT can discover the governed semantic views exposed by the MCP.

### Step 9 — Start a new conversation

Open a brand-new ChatGPT conversation after refreshing. Conversations that began before action discovery may retain the older tool snapshot and may not see the newly available actions.

### Step 10 — Select your Daasity connection before asking

Use the plugin/tool picker or mention the connection in the prompt composer so the new conversation is explicitly connected to the Daasity MCP.

### Step 11 — Ask the business question

For the validation test, ask: “What were my net sales in 2025?” ChatGPT should first locate the right governed semantic view, then query it to answer.

#### Troubleshooting by symptom

| What you see                                            | What to do                                                                                                                                                          |
| ------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| No Developer Mode option                                | Developer Mode needs a paid ChatGPT account. Enable it under Settings → Security and login. On Business or Enterprise, your workspace policy also has to permit it. |
| The connector is added but no Connection is shown       | Open ••• → Manage and enable your Daasity connection.                                                                                                               |
| "No app actions available yet"                          | Select Refresh, then confirm find\_views appears under Actions.                                                                                                     |
| find\_views appears, but your current chat can't use it | Start a new conversation and select your Daasity connection before asking.                                                                                          |
| ChatGPT asks you to sign in again                       | Complete the Daasity sign-in. This happens when the connection or its token has changed.                                                                            |
| Refresh still returns no actions                        | Contact Daasity support - this isn't something to keep retrying on your end.                                                                                        |

### Final readiness check

Run through these before relying on the connection:

**Developer Mode:** on, under Settings → Security and login\
**Connector:** Daasity added under Settings → Plugins\
**Authorization:** Daasity OAuth approved\
**Connection:** enabled under ••• → Manage\
**Permissions:** Allow low-risk actions (DEFAULT)\
**Refresh:** run from the Manage screen\
**Actions:** find\_views and query both listed\
**Conversation:** a new chat, with your Daasity connection selected
